Gophers Become Cardinals' Fourth Straight Victim

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher limited Catholic, which unleashed as many as 51 shots in a game earlier this season, to 17 shots tonight, but the Cardinals still managed to score five times and come away with a 5-0 Landmark Conference victory over the Gophers.

It took just two shots for Catholic to assume a 1-0 lead, with credit for the goal going to Taylor Elliott and the assist to Marisa Martinelli. Two goals by Molly Crowley that were separated by less than four minutes bumped the advantage up to 3-0 before the contest was even 12 minutes old.

Elliott tallied her second goal of the game midway through the first half and Rachel Day closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal with 6:39 remaining before halftime.

The Cardinals (9-3, 3-1 Landmark) have won four in a row since a 3-2 loss to Elizabethtown in overtime back on Sept. 26, and they've outscored the four opponents, 23-0.

Jackie Juarez (Glendora, Calif./Glendora) accounted for three of the five shots the Gophers (8-4, 1-3 Landmark) were able to get off.

Another Landmark Conference game awaits head coach Megan Williams' squad on Saturday. It will be at home against Drew with a 1 p.m. starting time.
