Gophers Blank Greyhounds at their Pound, 5-0

BETHLEHEM, PA. - Senior Rachel Crain (Charlotte Hall, MD) scored her 7th goal of the 2016 season as the Gophers blanked the Moravian Greyhounds, at their own field, 5-0 on Saturday.  The goal puts Crain into  fourth in goals in the Landmark Conference to date.  With their second consecutive win, the Gophers are now 2-1 in the Landmark and 7-5 overall.

The Gophers outshot Moravian, 40-15, and utilized a balanced scoring attack that resulted in five different players scoring goals.  Moravian’s goalkeeper, Megan Kanyuk, made 26 saves.
Joining Crain in the scoring column were fellow senior midfielder Lizzie Barminski (Ventura, CA), sophomore forward Maya Belin (Baltimore, MD), junior midfielder Sarah Shklanko (Huntington Beach, CA) and sophomore forward Jackie Juarez (Glendora, CA).  The Gophers led 3-0 at the half and never looked back.
“Today was a great team win” said Head Coach Megan Williams.   “We received  contributions from the whole squad” continued Williams, and “we moved the ball really well on attack.”

The win puts the Gophers in a three-way tie for second place with Catholic and Susquehanna.  All three of these teams trail undefeated Elizabethtown.  The Gophers return to action on the road against Catholic University for a 7:00 pm game on Wednesday, October 12th.
