Field Hockey’s Shklanko Sisters Nab All-Landmark Conference Selections
TOWSON, Md. - Field Hockey's senior sibling duo of Kristen Shklanko (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) and Sarah Shklanko (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) were named to the 2017 All-Landmark Conference Teams on Tuesday.  Kristen, a midfielder, earned Second Team honors, while Sarah, a defender, was named to the First Team at her position.
"I am so proud of Kristen and Sarah, not only for what they have done this year but also in how they have grown as players and athletes over their careers," said field hockey head coach Megan Williams.  "They each are dynamic players in their own right and in their own way and are very deserving of these accolades.  This is a great representation of the hard work of all of our players throughout this season and they will be missed next year."
In 2017, Kristen started all 15 matches for Goucher in the midfield, tallying two goals and four assists for a season point total of eight. During her four year career as a Gopher, Kristen tallied nine goals and recorded twelve assists for a career point total of 30. She started in 61 of the 62 games she played, as well.
Sarah, meanwhile, started 15 matches on defense for the Gophers in 2017, making a team-best five defensive saves. She even got in on the act offensively on the year, scoring her lone goal of the campaign in a 5-0 win in Gophers' regular-season finale on Oct. 28 against Drew.
For her career, Sarah started in all 48 games she played in on the Gophers backline, making seven career defensive saves. She also scored four goals and added an assist for a career-point total of nine.
Overall, the Shklanko's helped lead the Gophers to the Landmark Conference playoffs in 2016 for the first time since 2007. Their senior class also posted a four year combined record of 32-32, a 15-game improvement for the program in the four years prior to their arrival.
