Field Hockey's Maya Belin Named Goucher College Athlete of the Week

Senior Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md.) of the Goucher College field hockey team had a big weekend on the attack for the Gophers, as they collected their first two victories of the season.

For her efforts, Belin was named the Goucher College Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 9, 2018, on Monday.

Belin's banner weekend began on Saturday against Ramapo. First, she recorded an assist on a pair of goals that gave Goucher a 2-0 lead in the second half. After Ramapo tied the match up at 2-all, Belin scored the eventual game-winning goal with 45 seconds left in regulation to lift the Gophers to a 3-2 win.

Then, on Sunday against Ferrum, Belin recorded another assist, this time on the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 victory for the Gophers at rain-soaked Beldon Field. 

With her efforts over the weekend, Belin has now scored 14 goals and added five assists in her career at Goucher.

Belin and the rest of the Goucher College field hockey team will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Lebanon Valley for a 7 p.m. start.
