For the first time in her career, field hockey senior Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md.) was named the Landmark Conference's Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday for the period ending September 23, 2018.
Belin nabbed this week's honor after a big week offensively for the Gophers, as she led the team to a pair of victories over Frostburg St. (4-1) on Tuesday and Drew (3-0) on Saturday.
First, against Frostburg, Belin netted her first hat trick, scoring three goals in a three-score victory for the Gophers on the road. Then, on Saturday at Drew, she followed it up by scoring a pair of goals in the second half to distance the Gophers from the host Rangers in another three-goal win.
With her five-goal week for Goucher, Belin has already netted six goals on the year for the Gophers. Belin, who finds her self one goal away from matching her career-high total of seven goals in a season (which came in 2016), has also recorded three assists for a team-best 15 total points in seven matches.
Belin and rest of the Gophers (who are now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Landmark) return to action on Tuesday, as they host Immaculata at Beldon Field. Action begins at 4 p.m.
