Field Hockey’s Emily Postlethwait and Women’s Soccer’s Erica Bulzomi Named Scholar Athletes of the Week
Every week in the fall semester, Goucher Athletics names two Scholar-Athletes of the Week for their achievements in the classroom. This week's features are field hockey junior Emily Postlethwait (Herndon, Va. / Herndon) and women's soccer senior Erica Bulzomi (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset).
Postlethwait, a psychology major, was announced to the 2019-20 Landmark Conference Honor Roll and currently holds a 3.85 GPA. The defender made her Goucher debut against St. Mary's on August 32, 2018. That season Postlethwait appeared in 10 games and recorded one shot. In the 2019 season, she started all 17 games and grabbed her first collegiate goal against Virginia Wesleyan on September 18. Ten days later, Postlethwait registered her first assist against Drew on September 28, 2019.
Bulzomi appeared on the Landmark Conference Honor Roll in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The biology major holds a 3.90 GPA. Bulzomi made her debut for the Gophers on September 6, 2017, against Neumann. In her nine-game appearances, the goalkeeper posted 25 saves, a 1.79 goals-against average and a .586 save percentage. She made a career-high six stops on two different occasions. As a sophomore, Bulzomi appeared in seven games with six starts and registered 17 saves. In 2019, she played 17:34 minutes in one match against Widener on September 21.
