Nelson Named Landmark Field Hockey Athlete of the Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Mickey Nelson (Frederick, Md./Urbana), a member of the Goucher College field hockey team, has been named a Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
With the unprecedented cancellation of an official fall sports season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored fall sport for the remainder of the academic year. Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution.
Nelson appeared in 41 games including six starts in her career. The senior posted two goals and three assists for seven points on 15 shots in her career.
Last year, she notched a career-best two helpers against Southern Virginia on September 7, 2019, and a goal against Virginia Wesleyan on September 18, 2019.
Nelson also excels in the classroom and has been named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll and the Zags Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Team as a sophomore and a junior.
The Landmark Conference will also honor seniors from men's soccer (March 19), women's soccer (March 26), cross country (April 1) and women's volleyball (April 2).
