Goucher Field Hockey Places 12 Student-Athletes On The 2020 Zags Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad
BALTIMORE, Md. – Caroline Doll (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) and Ari Hooper (San Diego, Calif./Poway) have been named to the 2020 Zags Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad for the fourth-straight year and are joined on the squad by 10 of their Goucher College field hockey teammates.
"I am extremely proud of my team," said Gophers field hockey head coach Stacey Eversley. "They continue to achieve their goals both on and off the field. To be a student-athlete is tough at times, but they make it look very easy. To earn a spot on the NFHCA National Academic squad is exciting for them, the program, and they have worked hard for it."
Senior Alexyss Pawlak (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) was honored for the fifth-straight season. Senior Mickey Nelson (Frederick, Md./Urbana), and juniors Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual), Jaime Roche (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Technical), Emily Postlethwait (Herndon, Va./Herndon), Hannah Washburn (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon), and Mia Wiggins (San Diego, Calif./University City) have earned the honor three times. Sophomore Amita Chatterjee (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) received her second nod, and sophomore Brighid Kowal (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) and freshman Daryn Carter (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) earned their first nod with the Gophers.
Doll and Hooper become the 15th and 16th Gophers to earn a spot on the NFHCA Division III National Squad all four years dating back to 2004, joining Pawlak, Elizabeth Barminski, Shannara Bauer, Marissa Copan, Olivia Dickert, Danielle Hallacker, Lindsay Jones, Samantha Klock, Collette Newcombe, Justine Ruhlin, Kristen Shlanko, Elizabeth Weiner, Celia Welch, and Elizabeth Zengel as four-year honorees.
Goucher has placed at least 11 players on the squad for the fourth-straight season. In 2015, a team-high 15 players were honored. The Gophers have had a player receive recognition 173 times since 2004.
The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.
This year, 2,050 student-athletes from 140 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2020 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
