EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - Senior Kaitlyn Bucci scored a pair of goals as the Goucher College field hockey team extended its win streak to six games with a 2-1 win over Wilkes University in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams Saturday at Schmidt Stadium.
- Goucher's (6-1, 1-0 Landmark) Katie Bloom made a pair of saves early.
- Bucci had the first shot of the game for the Gophers at the midway point.
- With 2:54 remaining in the first, Bucci dribbled in from the right side and shot inside the left post, beating Wilkes (2-6, 0-1) goalie Olivia Wickel.
- Bloom stopped a Wilkes shot a minute into the second quarter.
- The Colonels outshot the Gophers 5-0 in the second but the guests led 1-0 at the break.
- Both teams generated penalty corners in the early moments of the second half.
- With 9:12 left in the third, the Gophers were awarded a penalty stroke, which Bucci converted to make it 2-0.
- A Bucci shot with 1:15 to go was cleared by Wilkes defender Giavana Famiano.
