Rangers Edge Gophers 3-2 on Late Tally

MADISON, N.J. - Host Drew University scored with 2:05 remaining to edge Goucher College 3-2 in Landmark Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.
- Goucher (6-9, 1-5 Landmark) created a penalty corner a minute in.
- Just over four minutes in, the Rangers (8-7, 2-4) scored with Janelle Arch getting on the board.
- Kaitlyn Bucci had a shot saved by Beth Kelly in the 12th minute.
- With 40 seconds left, Emma Rider put home a rebound of an initital save by Katie Bloom to make it 2-0.
- Charlotte Bloom and Bucci had back-to-back shots saved three minutes in.
- Following a penalty corner seconds later, Bucci scored on assists by Camden West and Annie Bennett to halve the Ranger lead.
- Bucci pushed a shot wide with three minutes left in the half.
- Katie Bloom made a save on an Ellie Kopec shot with just under five minutes left in the quarter.
- Following a corner, Bucci had her shot stopped by defender Liriana Seferovicwith 2:24 left.
- Bucci had a shot saved by Kelly on a penalty corner at the end of the period.
- Goucher kept up the pressure with four corners and three shots in the first seven minutes of the fourth.
- With 7:16 left, Bucci scored her second goal of the game, with Bennett assisting, to tie the game 2-2.
- Bucci had another shot saved by Kelly with five minutes to go.
- Seconds later, Bennett had a shot turned aside.
- With 2:05 left, Tyler Olivia scored on a pass from Chandler Straub to put Drew back in front.
- Goucher outshot Drew 15-11, including 9-3 in the second half.
- The Gophers took 11 penalty corners, while the Rangers recorded eight.
- Katie Bloom recorded five saves, while Kelly made eight stops.
- Bucci led the Gophers with 11 shots.
- Bucci now has 10 goals on the season, the most by a Gopher since Ari Hooper had 10 in 2019.
- Goucher hits the road again Tuesday when it travels to Catholic University for a 6 pm Landmark Conference game.
- The Gophers return home next Saturday at 1 pm when they host Elizabethtown College at Beldon Field.
