Gophers Downed by Etown on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - Visting Elizabethtown College topped Goucher College 4-0 in Landmark Conference field hockey play at Beldon Field Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game the Gophers honored seniors Kaitlyn Bucci and Zoe Mikles.
- Elizabethtown (6-10, 3-5 Landmark) scored 3:39 into the game on a goal by Hannah Long.
- Moments later Bucci had her shot for Goucher (6-11, 1-7) saved by Etown starting goalie Angelina Giglio-Tos.
- Gopher goalie Katie Bloom made her first save at the 12:09 mark.
- Madison Usher had a shot stopped by Giglio-Tos with two minutes left in the quarter.
- Bucci had back-to-back shots saved by Blue Jay relief goalie Rachel Murphy, followed by a Sa'eeda Jackson shot that was also saved.
- Bloom made six saves the remainder of the quarter but the game remained 1-0 at halftime.
- Bloom made her first save of the second half a minute in.
- 1:26 in, Rachel Troutman made it 2-0 in favor of the Blue Jays.
- Annie Bennett had a shot saved in the 37th minute.
- Etown took a 3-0 lead on a second Troutman goal with 3:40 left in the quarter.
- Goucher relief goalie Mimi Taff made her first save four minutes into the final frame.
- Hailey Meyer scored Elizabethtown's fourth goal with 10:08 remaining.
- Taff made one more save the rest of the way.
- Elizabethtown outshot Goucher 29-15 and generated 17 penalty corners to the Gophers' three.
- Bloom made 11 saves over the first three quarters, while Taff made a pair of saves in the final 15 minutes.
- A quarter of Blue Jay goalies combined to make seven saves to post the shutout.
- Bucci led the Gophers with nine shots.
- Goucher closes out its season Tuesday night when it hosts Moravian University in a 6 pm Landmark Conference game at Beldon Field.
