Gophers Top Moravian in Season Finale

TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Julia Blondell's goal with 7:33 remaining lifted the Goucher College field hockey team to a 1-0 Landmark Conference win over Moravian University in the Gophers' season finale Tuesday night.

• Goucher's (7-11, 2-7 Landmark) Charlotte Bloom made a defensive save on a Moravian (7-10, 5-4) shot a minute in.
• Kaitlyn Bucci had a shot saved by Greyhound goalie Maia Machado at the 2:10 mark.
• Gopher goalie Katie Bloom made her first save two minutes later.

• Katie Bloom made a pair of saves in the second quarter.
• Moravian also generated a pair of penalty corners.

• Bucci had a pair of shots go wide in the opening moments of the second half.
• Katie Bloom made two saves in the final four minutes of the period.

• Katie Bloom made a save five minutes into the final frame.
• In the 53rd minute, Bucci had a shot saved by Greyhound relief goalie Jessica Knox.  Following a scramble in front of the goal, Blondell knocked it home to make it 1-0.
• Annie Bennett had a shot blocked with two minutes left, with another Bucci shot saved moments later.

• Goucher outshot Moravian 10-9, with the Greyhounds taking nine penalty corners to the Gophers' five.
• Katie Bloom made seven saves en route to her third shutout of the season.
• Machado and Knox combined for three saves, with Machado playing the first 15 minutes before giving way to Knox.
• Bucci led the Gophers with seven shots.
• Despite the loss, the Greyhounds earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship.
