Field Hockey Falls to PSU-Harrisburg in Season Opener

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Goucher College Gophers (0-1) come up short to Penn St. Harrisburg (2-0) in their season opener. 

Katie Bloom had her first save of the season in the first 2 minutes of the game. PSU-Harrisburg started the game off strong by having 6 shots in the first 8 minutes. Charlotte Bloom took the first shot for Goucher at 9:20 into the game. At 13:25, the Nittany Lions had the first goal of the game. 

Not long into the second quarter, PSU-Harrisburg had a penalty corner which was followed by a shot on goal. With 26:47 on the clock, PSU-Harrisburg attempted back-to-back on net attempts. PSU-Harrisburg ended the first half recording 17 shots, where K. Bloom recorded 8 saves in the first half.

PSU-Harrisburg came out of halftime strong with 2 shots on goal in the first 2 minutes. The Nittany Lions recorded another goal at 32:15. PSU-Harrisburg rallied back after an offensive attempt from Camden West with their third goal of the game at 33:28. PSU-Harrisburg rounded out the third quarter 2 more shots on goal.

Mimi Taff checked in for the Gophers to start the fourth quarter. With 10 minutes left on the clock, PSU-Harrisburg took the first shot of the quarter. Then, racked up 2 more shots that were less than a minute apart. In the last 2 minutes, PSU-Harrisburg found the back of the net for their final goal of the game.

K. Bloom played 45 minutes and ended the game with 12 saves, while M. Taff recorded 15 minutes and 4 saves. C. Bloom led the team with two shots on net.
