Men's Basketball Falls to Wittenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - On Friday afternoon, the men's basketball team traveled to Pennsylvania to take on the Whittenberg University Tigers as part of the Muhlenberg Classic, where they lost in regulation 65-51.

Despite a strong start to the season, the 2018-19 men's basketball team has struggled in their most recent three games, failing to capture another win after their first victory since February of 2017 over Valley Forge.

In this matchup, junior Dwayne Morton (Waynesville, Mo.) led the team in points for the second straight contest. Morton scored 13 points total, averaging 75% from the field, 66% in three-point range, and 83% from the line. Sophomore M.J. Victor (Baltimore, Md.) was second in points today with 10. Victor was 4-6 on field goals and 2-2 from the line.

So far this season the Gophers are still averaging more points than in 2017-18, with 64.3. The overall percentages in field goals and three-pointers are also higher at the start of this season, currently sitting at 41.1% and 33.3%, respectively.

The Gophers will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. at 8 PM.
