Covey, Ellison Added to Men's Basketball Staff
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College men's basketball head coach announced that Trevor Covey and Oliver Ellison have joined the Gopher men's basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2023-24 season. Covey will serve as the team's graduate assistant, while Ellison has been named an assistant coach.
Covey played collegiate basketball at both Lebanon Valley College and The College of New Jersey. He appeared in 26 games his senior year and helped lead TCNJ to the NJAC Semi-Finals. Trevor earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from The College of New Jersey. He is currently pursuing a Master's in Athletic Program Leadership & Administration from Goucher.
A native of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, Trevor graduated Point Pleasant Beach High School as one of the program's all-time leading scorers, eclipsing the 1000-point mark. He was a three-year starter and one-year captain, helping lead the team to a Central Jersey Group 1 championship his senior season.
Ellison worked with Klingman at Landmark rival Catholic University last season. While at Catholic his responsibilities included opponent scouting, recruiting, player skill development and development of game and practice plans. He helped the team reach a 13-0 start, the best start in school history, and a No. 22 national ranking.
Ellison, a DC product from Gonzaga College High School, earned a full scholarship to play at Howard University. Ellison spent time playing professionally in Africa and the Middle East after graduating from Howard.
Ellison began his coaching career at Montgomery County (Pa.) Community College in 2020 and then spent a year on the Gallaudet staff in 2021.
Goucher opens its 2023-24 season under first-year head coach Klingman on Wednesday, November 8 at TCNJ, with the home opener set for Tuesday, November 21 against Eastern Mennonite.
