TOWSON, Md. - For the second consecutive week, first-year Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica) of the Goucher College men's golf team was named the Landmark Conference's Athlete of the Week, this time for the period ending Oct. 14, 2018.
This weekend, Gonzalez won his first collegiate tournament at the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic, taking the event after posting a two-under par score (total score of 142), winning the tournament with a low score of 70 in Sunday's final round.
The win in the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic has capped off an impressive run of tournaments for Gonzalez.
He kicked off his collegiate career at the North Carolina Wesleyan Tournament in late September by finishing third overall, than last weekend at the McDaniel Fall Classic, Gonzalez lost out on top medalist honors by one stroke, finishing in a tie for second overall.
Gonzalez has also been able to lead the Gophers, as a team, to high finishes. In all, Goucher has been able to place in the top six in all three events on the year, placing a season-high of third at the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic over the weekend.
The Goucher College men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, as they conclude the Fall portion of their 2018-19 slate by traveling to the Hershey Country Club for the Landmark Conference Fall Preview tournament. Action concludes on Sunday.
