Four Of A Kind: Julian Gonzalez Named Landmark Conference Men's Golf Player Of The Week For Fourth Time

BALTIMORE, Md. – Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley Academy), a member of the Goucher College men's golf team, has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week for the week of March 4-10, 2019. It is the fourth time this season the freshman has garnered the honor.

Gonzalez earned the honor this week after finishing second at the Pfeiffer Invitational on Tuesday for his fifth Top-3 finish of the season and the fourth time the year he has posted a Top-2 standing. The freshman shot a 78 in the first round and then posted a one under par round of 71 to move up from ninth to second. He finished with a two-round score of 148 to help the Gophers to a fifth-place standings in the spring opener for the team.

The freshman won the league's weekly honor for the final three weeks of the fall season and has taken home the honor in four of the seven weeks the honor has been awarded.

Gonzalez is averaging 71.9 strokes per round this season and has recorded victories at the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic on October 14 and at the Landmark Conference Men's Invitational on October 21. Along with his second-place standing this week, he finished second at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on October 7 and third at the Don Scalf Invitational on September 24.

Goucher returns to action at the McDaniel Spring Invitational in Abbotstown, Pa., on March 30-31.
