March 3, 2008

MADISON, N.J. - Goucher produced the Offensive and Defensive Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week in the Landmark Conference for Feb. 25-March 2.

According to today's announcement by the conference, junior attackman Sam Fitzpatrick (Littleton, CO/Arapahoe) was selected Offensive Player of the Week and senior defenseman William Beaver (Gaithersburg, MD/Urbana) was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Fitzpatrick had a hand in five goals in Saturday's 10-5 triumph over St. Vincent. He scored both of his goals during a run of five unanswered goals that provided the Gophers with a 9-4 lead over the Bearcats and was awarded assists on three of Goucher's five extra-man goals.

Beaver drew the assignment of covering St. Vincent's Zach Wilfong, who was coming off a six-goal performance against Virginia Wesleyan. He shut Wilfong down: no goals and no assists.

Beaver was also credited with three ground balls in the victory.
