Sophomore Attackman Stick Four Goals in Victory Over Mariners

MADISON, N.J. — For the third time during the 2010 season, Goucher's Rory Averett (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) was selected Offensive Player of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse in the Landmark Conference today.

The latest honor, which covers the period from March 29-April 4, follows the sophomore attackman's four-goal, one-assist performance against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Gophers defeated the Mariners, 11-7, to take over sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference.

Averett, who extended his personal goal-scoring streak to 25 games, is the leading scorer in the Landmark Conference with 33 goals in 10 games.
