Phillips, Ingram Earn Recognition from Landmark Conference
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher produced two of the 14 recipients of Player of the Week honors from the Landmark Conference that were announced today. Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar), a freshman on the women's outdoor track and field team, and Pierce Ingram (Austin, Texas/Westwood), a sophomore midfielder on the men's lacrosse team, were recognized for their performances for March 19-25.
Phillips was selected Female Track Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments at the Juniata Invitational where the Gophers finished in third place. She was the first runner to cross the finish line in the 100-meter dash (:13.21), the 100-meter hurdles (:15.87) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.42), and her effort of 16'5 3/4" landed her in first place in the long jump.
In addition, she ran a leg on Goucher's first-place entry in the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Ingram was chosen Offensive Player of the Week for his sport after supplying the Gophers with a career-high seven goals in an 18-8 Landmark Conference triumph over Drew.
Ingram, who had never before tallied more than three goals at the collegiate level, took only seven shots the entire contest, but each one turned into a goal for Goucher, which improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference with the victory.
