Annual Preview Recognizes Two Seniors from Goucher

Lynch, Averett Make Div. III Preseason All-America Team

BALTIMORE, Md. — Goucher has two seniors among the 87 players who are identified as Division III preseason All-Americans in 2012 Face-Off Yearbook, a comprehensive preview of NCAA men's lacrosse produced annually by the staff of Inside Lacrosse magazine.

As announced today on the insidelacrosse.com website, Matt Lynch (Ivyland, Pa./LaSalle College), who was an honorable mention on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division III All-America teams as both a sophomore in 2010 and a junior in 2011, is a second-team midfielder and Rory Averett (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) is listed among the honorable mentions on the preseason Division III All-America team that appears in 2012 Face-Off Yearbook.

The placement of Lynch on the second team suggests he is viewed as one of the top six Division III players at his position in the nation. One of only four players in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program to earn All-America recognition from the USILA, he supplied the Gophers with 30 goals and 26 assists in 2011. In addition to his 56 points, he finished with a .323 shooting percentage, 47 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Averett set a new single-season school record with his 53-goal effort in 2011, making him both the first player in the history of the Landmark Conference to surpass 50 goals in a season and Goucher's all-time leader in goals with 138 career goals.
