Gophers, Presidents Won't Play Due to Bitter Cold

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's men's lacrosse team won't be opening its 2016 season on Saturday after all.

With the coldest temperatures so far this winter being forecasted for the next two days, athletic administrators at both schools decided that it was in the best interest of the student-athletes if the game against Washington & Jefferson, scheduled to be played at noon on Beldon Field, be postponed. The combination of winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour and the extreme cold will create dangerous conditions which will get worse as the weekend progresses.

The game has been rescheduled for March 22 at 7 p.m.

The anticipated bitterly cold conditions have also caused the women's lacrosse team to call off its scrimmage on Saturday against Misericordia.
