KINGS POINT, N.Y. — Goucher was again denied its first Landmark Conference victory of the season today as the Gophers were handed a 15-5 setback by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

  • An unassisted goal by Conner Annunziato (West Chester, Pa./Bayerd Rustin) with :25 remaining accounted for all of Goucher's scoring in the first quarter, but the Gophers were down only 2-1 when the period ended.
  • The Mariners (6-1, 1-0 Landmark) outshot head coach Brian Kelly's squad, 20-4, in the second quarter and stretched their lead to 7-3 by the end of the first half.
  • Michael Morgan (Austin, Texas/Westwood) supplied the Gophers (7-3, 0-2 Landmark) with a pair of goals in the third quarter, but the home team opened the fourth period ahead 10-5.

  • Goucher went 1-for-6 on man-up situations.

  • The Gophers had dropped the previous three head-to-head encounters with the Mariners, but each of those was a one-goal loss.

Up next for Goucher is a Landmark Conference contest at home against Scranton one week from today, beginning at 1 p.m. The game will take place in Gopher Stadium.
