TOWSON, Md - For the first time in his almost four-year career at Goucher, senior Logan Winn (Pleasanton, Calif.) of the men's lacrosse team was named the Landmark Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday for the period ending April 29.
On Saturday, Winn was a force on the defensive end for Goucher, who rolled past visiting Moravian, 13-6, in their regular season finale. The win clinched a spot in the Landmark Conference Playoffs for the Gophers for the first time since 2014, as Goucher finishes the regular year with a 10-6 overall mark, 4-2 in the Landmark.
In the win, Winn posted a career-best four caused turnovers, as the Gophers caused 17 turnovers in the victory. At one point in the match, Winn and the rest of the Goucher defense held Moravian off the scoreboard for over 18 minutes in between the first and second quarters, as the Gophers opened up an insurmountable 9-1 lead in those minutes.
For the season, Winn has played in all 16 matches for Goucher, posting a career-high 16 caused turnovers, which is the third highest mark on the season for the Gophers.
Winn and the rest of the Goucher College men's lacrosse team plays in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Playoffs on Wednesday at second-seeded Elizabethtown. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
