Joseph Pille, Defense, Mount Saint Mary College, 2016, History and Political Science.

  1. How did you hear about the opportunity to be a GA at Goucher?

I have heard about Goucher's GA positions from other coaches around the league. I have been a college coach for 3 seasons before coming to Goucher.

  1. What attracted you to Goucher?

I was attracted to Goucher because of its reputation and location. Goucher is in a lacrosse hotbed and has a history of success in which I hope to continue with Coach Kelly.

  1. What impact do you want to have on the program at Goucher?

I would like to bring my experiences from coaching at Roanoke College to help show the team what it takes to become a Top 20 program again.

  1. What do you like most about the team/Goucher so far?

I have only been able to meet with the team over Zoom meetings, but I love the comradery and friendship everyone has with each other. They have great relationships with their teammates.

  1. What are you hoping to learn while you are at Goucher?

I am really excited to learn under Coach Kelly. He has been a coach at Goucher for over a decade and has had a ton of experiences that I can learn from him.

  1. What are your plans after getting your master's degree?

I plan to continue my coaching career. I will have to wait and see what the job openings look like after I graduate, but I would really like to become a Head Coach for my own program.

  1. What is your favorite part of playing your sport?

My favorite part about playing lacrosse is the multitude of skill sets it requires. You need the stamina and endurance of soccer, great hand-eye coordination like hockey, and it has the physicality of football all in one.

  1. What lessons did you learn from your playing experience that you want to instill in your student-athletes at Goucher?

The most important thing that I learned from my playing career is that people are in your corner. I want, along with Coach Kelly, to be there for our team whenever they need anything. Guys make mistakes and things happen in their personal life, and I want to be able to help them get through those obstacles.
