Matthew Lintner Announced as Head Coach of Men's Lacrosse Program
BALTIMORE, MD – The Goucher College Director of Athletics, Stephanie Johnson, announced today that Matthew Lintner will join the department as Head Coach of the Men's Lacrosse Program.
"Throughout our search, we looked for more than just a proven winner; we sought a mentor who leads student-athletes with integrity and character. As a Division III alum, Matthew truly understands the holistic Division III experience. His personal journey, deep respect for the game, and clear vision to make our mark in the Landmark Conference made him stand out in an exceptional pool of candidates. We are excited to see his leadership guide our team's future, both on and off the field." Said Johnson.
Lintner arrives at Goucher after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at High Point University. In his first season, the program finished as A10 regular-season runners-up for the first time since joining the A10. In this season, 12 program members earned postseason honors, including eight earning All-Conference selections, following the team's impressive performance, knocking off two ranked opponents.
Prior to High Point, Lintner spent four seasons at Roanoke College, where he had also played before graduating in 2019. He joined the Maroons' staff in the fall of 2020 as a second assistant and was promoted to lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator ahead of the 2024 season. During his tenure, he handled numerous components for the program, serving as offensive coordinator, running the extra man unit, coaching the faceoff unit, working with the goalies, and overseeing strength and conditioning for nearly two and a half years.
In that time, Lintner has coached 14 USILA All-Americans, including 10 offensive players, and a 2023 First Team All-American attackman. In addition, Roanoke also claimed the ODAC Rookie of the Year in two of his four years in the program. He helped guide the Maroons to two NCAA Tournament appearances in his last three seasons, posting an overall record of 45-25, with a 26-9 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
"I first want to thank Stephanie Johnson, the search committee, the Athletic Department, and the entire community of Goucher College for this opportunity," Lintner said. "I am honored to be the next Head Coach of Goucher's Men's Lacrosse program".
Linter will begin at Goucher on Monday, June 1.
