TOWSON, Md. - Goucher spotted Penn St.-Berks a 1-0 advantage this afternoon, but wrested the lead from the Nittany Lions in the 24th minute of play and then pulled away for a 5-1 victory that allowed the Gophers to conclude the Goucher College Soccer Classic with a 2-0 record.

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher spotted Penn St.-Berks a 1-0 advantage this afternoon, but wrested the lead from the Nittany Lions in the 24th minute of play and then pulled away for a 5-1 victory that allowed the Gophers to conclude the Goucher College Soccer Classic with a 2-0 record.
Trailing 1-0 thanks to an unassisted goal by Mike Zopfi at 10:45, the Gophers drew even with the Nittany Lions (0-2) on a goal by Galen Guindon (Wallingford, PA/Friends Central) at 18:38 before going ahead on a goal by Andrew Bull (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) at 23:55.
Goucher took advantage of a 18-4 edge in shots in the second half to extend its lead. A goal by Chris Herting (Chalfont, PA/Germantown Academy) at 51:15 provided the Gophers with a two-goal cushion and an unassisted goal by Andrew Eden (Damascus, MD/Sandy Spring Friends School) made the score 4-1 in favor of the home team. Bull notched his second goal of the contest and team-leading sixth of the season in the 75th minute to close out the scoring.
Justin Holbrook (Claymont, DE/Wilmington Friends School) faced only 10 shots while playing the entire contest in goal for the Gophers and finished with two saves.
