Loss Brings End to Gophers' Three-Game Winning Streak
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Goucher, beginning a stretch of its 2009 schedule that will have head coach Gary Dunda's Gophers playing at home only once in a span of five games, took a 4-1 hit from Arcadia on the road this afternoon.
The Knights (4-3-1) scored three times in a span of just 6:01 in the first half, snapping a scoreless tie when Joe Clementi found the back of the net on a direct kick at 17:22, going ahead 2-0 when Clementi scored again at 21:16 and then bumping their advantage over the Gophers (5-2) to 3-0 on an unassisted goal by Ethan Armstrong at 23:23.
It wasn't until after a goal by Zachary Todd in the 55th minute put Arcadia up 4-0 in the second half that the Gophers got on the scoreboard on a successful penalty kick by Tim McMullen (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) at 74:00.
The loss ended Goucher's modest three-game winning streak.
