Berger's Unassisted Goal at 56:35 Slices Lead in Half
TOWSON, Md. — An unassisted goal by senior midfielder Jay Berger (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) at 56:35 allowed Goucher to cut what had been a 2-0 lead for McDaniel in half, but the Green Terror kept the Gophers off the scoreboard the rest of the way to secure a 3-1 victory on Beldon Field tonight.
Luis Calderon tallied both of the goals that staked the visitors to a 2-0 advantage, the first one at 32:35 of the first half and the second one at 55:13 of the second half. The 2-1 score that Berger's first goal of the season produced held up for more than 30 minutes before Marrio Davis tacked on an unassisted goal at 87:27 to provide the Green Terror (1-2) with a little breathing room.
McDaniel enjoyed an 18-13 edge in shots, but the Gophers (2-2) were awarded six corner kicks compared to five for the Green Terror.
