TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season as it battled McDaniel College to a 0-0 tie Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field in non-conference action. The Gophers snapped a five-game losing streak to the Green Terror.
The Gophers (2-0-2) had a pair of chances late. With just under 12 minutes remaining, senior Jonathan Alvarado pushed a shot wide. In the 85th minute, junior Paul Van Engeland had a shot saved by Green Terror (1-1-1) keeper Tate Roth.
McDaniel held a 10-9 shot advantage on the afternoon, with the guests taking six of the game's eight corner kicks. Goucher keeper Ale Sternini registered his second straight shutout with six saves, the 12th of his career and second of the season. He now sits just one shutout behind Brian Garrahy for third place on the program's career shutout list.
Roth also had six saves for McDaniel.
Goucher returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Wilson College for a 4 pm contest. The Gophers are back home next Saturday, September 14, when they host Immaculata University in a 4 pm game at Beldon Field.
