Ale Sternini Recognized as Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md. - For the first time in his career, Goucher College men's soccer junior goalkeeper Ale Sternini was named the Landmark Conference men's soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon, after posting a pair of shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for the Gophers.
On Wednesday, in a 2-0 win at Hood College, Sternini recorded three saves. Saturday against McDaniel at home, Sternini notched six stops en route to the 12th shutout of his career, as Goucher earned its first result against the Green Terror since 2017.
Sternini has played all 360 minutes in goal for the 2-0-2 Gophers this season, recording a 0.75 goals-against average and .864 save percentage. He ranks second in the Landmark Conference in save percentage and fourth in goals-against average.
Goucher is back in action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Wilson College for a 4 pm contest. The Gophers are back home on Saturday, September 14 when they host Immaculata University in a 4 pm game at Beldon Field.
