Ale Sternini Earns Second Landmark Weekly Honor of 2024

TOWSON, Md. - For the second time this season, Goucher College men's soccer junior goalkeeper Ale Sternini was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

In two games last week, Sternini stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced (.947 save percentage).  He recorded seven saves in a 1-0 setback to Susquehanna University on Wednesday, then made 11 stops en route to his fifth shutout of the season Saturday in a 0-0 tie with Drew University.  

Saturday's shutout was the 15th of Sternini's career, placing him one shy of the career program record of 16.  His .793 save percentage ranks third in the Landmark Conference, while his 1.30 goals-against average is seventh.

Goucher returns to action Wednesday evening when it hosts Catholic University in a 7 pm Landmark Conference contest at Beldon Field.
