Alum, Ali Kazim Nakhid, Called Up for Trinidad & Tobago
BALTIMORE, MD - The Trinidad & Tobago national men's soccer team has announced the 22-man roster for the upcoming international friendly versus South Korea. Among those selected to the team was Goucher standout Ali Kazim Nakhid.
"We could not be any happier and prouder of Ali," said former head coach Bryan Laut. "From the moment he arrived at Goucher, he had such an amazing impact not only on our program but in our campus community."
A member of the Class of 2023, Nakhid made a lasting mark at Goucher. On the field, Nakhid was a two-time Landmark All-Conference selection, in addition to being named as an All-Region performer by United States Coaches. In the classroom, he was recognized as a Scholar All-American by the same organization. Beyond athletics, Nakhid also served as an Arsht Presidential Diplomat during his time on campus.
"He had a goal and dream of playing beyond college and pushed himself every day to become a successful professional player," Laut said. "The opportunity to represent his country at the highest level is so well deserved, and the entire Goucher community will be excited to cheer him on as he prepares for his first cap with his national team."
Nakhid currently plays soccer professionally for Al Ittifaq FC in the United Arab Emirates.
The match against South Korea is scheduled for May 30, 2026, and will be broadcasted on BYUtv.
