CHESTERTOWN, Md. - By the time Andrew Castro (San Francisco, CA/Stuart Hall) and Michael Ambrosio (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) turned in first-place performances for Goucher this evening, the outcome of the meet against Washington (Md.) had long been established. The Shoremen (4-3) took first place in the first seven events - and also produced the runner-up in four of them - on the way to a 96-47 victory over the Gophers.

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - By the time Andrew Castro (San Francisco, CA/Stuart Hall) and Michael Ambrosio (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) turned in first-place performances for Goucher this evening, the outcome of the meet against Washington (Md.) had long been established. The Shoremen (4-3) took first place in the first seven events - and also produced the runner-up in four of them - on the way to a 96-47 victory over the Gophers.
Castro was uncontested in the 500-yard freestyle, completing the event in 7:3976. Ambrosio's winning time in the 100-yard breaststroke was 1:13.65, and his only competition in the event came from teammate Devin Myles (Turner, ME/Leavitt Area), who was the runner-up (1:16.87).
The Gophers (0-7) picked up four points for second place in the 200 medley relay (1:55.72) and another four points for a second-place effort by Sasha Verin (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) in the 200 free (2:02.32).
