TOWSON, Md. - Sasha Verin (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) and Mac McDonald (New Port Richey, FL/Avon Old Farms) both placed first in a pair of individual events for Goucher today, but the Gophers (0-3) suffered a 100-71 loss to Gallaudet.
Verin's first-place performances were in the 100-yard butterfly and 200 individual medley, plus he also anchored Goucher's victorious 200 freestyle relay. He completed the 100 fly in 1:00.76 and his winning time in the 200 IM was 2:16.20.
McDonald touched first in the 500 (5:59.28) and 1000 freestyles (12:29.66). He was also runner-up to Michael Hubbs of the Bison in the 50 free.
In addition to Verin, Goucher's 200 freestyle relay consisted of Michael Polonchak (Harpers Ferry, WV), Devin Myles (Turner, ME/Leavitt Area) and Michael Ambrosio (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber). The winning time in that event was 1:42.12.
