Royals Pin 85-76 Setback on Gophers
SCRANTON, Pa. - Devin Myles (Turner, ME/Leavitt Area) and Sasha Verin (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) both placed first in a pair of individual events today, but Goucher was still denied its first victory of the season as Scranton turned back head coach Tom Till's Gophers, 85-76.

SCRANTON, Pa. - Devin Myles (Turner, ME/Leavitt Area) and Mac McDonald (New Port Richey, FL/Avon Old Farms) both placed first in a pair of individual events today, but Goucher was still denied its first victory of the season as Scranton turned back head coach Tom Till's Gophers, 85-76.
It was the first Landmark Conference meet of the season for the Royals (2-2, 1-0 Landmark).
Myles was uncontested in the two events in which he was awarded first place. He posted times of 14:03.03 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 3:14.12 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
McDonald's first-place performances were in the 100 butterfly (1:06.73) and 200 individual medley (2:37.11). Goucher's Michael Ambrosio (Port Washington, NY/Paul D. Schreiber) was runner-up in those two events with times of 1:26.06 in the 100 butterfly and 2:46.29 in the 200 IM.
The Gophers (0-4, 0-3 Landmark) also produced the runner-up to Scranton's Joseph Veselovsky in the 200 butterfly: Veselovsky's winning time was 2:02.79 and McDonald followed in 2:34.61.
