Goucher Men Split Tri-Meet at Hood to Open Season
FREDERICK, MD – The Goucher College men's swim team opened the season at Hood College in a tri-meet against Stevenson and Hood. The Gophers split the evening, falling to Stevenson 202-41, while edging out Hood 91-84.
Goucher earned its first victory of the meet in the 50 Yard Backstroke, where Ben Graff and Aiden Grimm placed first and second. Graff finished with a time of 28.77, while Grimm finished 0.20 seconds later. The duo later finished back-to-back again, in the 100 Yard Freestyle, claiming fifth and sixth. Graff added another win for the Gophers in the 50 Yard Butterfly.
In his debut for Goucher, Yi Yue placed fifth in the 50 Yard Breaststroke, finishing just 0.69 seconds off the podium. He followed with a strong fourth-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, narrowly missing third place by 0.25 seconds.
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Goucher placed fifth through eighth, led by Yue.
The Goucher men's and women's swim teams are back in action, for their home-opener against Juniata on October 17th, set to begin at 3pm in the von Borries Aquatic Center.
