Dominant Performance by Wilkes Takes Down Gophers
BALTIMORE, MD – The Goucher College men's swim team hosted the Colonels of Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon in the von Borries Aquatic Center, where Wilkes delivered a dominant performance to claim a 159-32 victory.
The Gophers opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, as Aiden Grimm, Yi Yue, Josh Contreras, and Ben Graff combined for a time of 4:05.63. Grimm later added a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:31.21), while Yue secured second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:28.86).
In the Mixed 1000 Yard Freestyle, Olivia Barnes contributed points for Goucher with a fourth-place finish, finishing in 13:29.06. Contreras added another fourth-place result in the 400 Yard IM (5:11.34), finishing just three seconds shy of the podium.
The Gophers picked up additional points in the 50 Yard Freestyle, with Grimm leading the group in fourth at 25.44. Christian Houck followed just 0.33 seconds behind to earn the final point, while Yakhani Dlamini rounded out the lineup with a time of 31.69. Houck later added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:00.91).
Goucher's highlight of the afternoon came from Graff, who claimed first place in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:21.63, winning by two seconds. The meet concluded with a third-place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, as Contreras, Houck, Barnes, and Graff combined for a time of 3:58.48.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday, January 17, hosting Moravian for Senior Day in the von Borries Aquatic Center at 1pm.
