GERMANTOWN, Md. – Hugh MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) and Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./Homeschooled) both finished eighth in an event to power Goucher College at the second day of the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday.
MacConvery finished eighth in the "A" final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:42.68 after advancing to the "A" final with a time of 4:33.56. Jackson participated in her second "A" final of the championships. The senior, who placed seventh in the 50 free with a time of 25.14 on Friday, finished eighth in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.96. She posted a time of 1:00.91 in the preliminaries.
Stewart advanced to the "B" final in the 200 free and placed eighth in the race and 16th overall with a time of 2:12.53 after reaching the "B" final with a time of 2:05.44 in preliminaries. Penner raced in the "B" final of the 200 free and finished third in the race and 11th overall with a time of 1:49.12 after running a time of 1:51.86 in the morning session while Freeburg also participated in a "B" final in the 100 breast. He finished eighth in the "B" final and 16th overall with a time of 1:03.09, nearly matching his preliminary time of 1:03.19.
Stewart, Jackson Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Louisville) and Jamie Damm (Middletown, Md./Middletown) finished seventh in the 200-medley relay (2:01.44) while Camilla Civiello, Caitlin Cunningham (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), Stewart, Damm teamed up to place seventh in the 800-free relay (8:44.17).
Penner, Freeburg, MacConvery and Eli Gang (Highland Park, N.J./Goulda Och Academy)iH placed seventh in the 200-medley relay (1:44.32) while Andrew Ackerman (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township), Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), MacConvery and Gang, placed seventh in the 800-free relay (8:20.34).
In the morning session for the women, Zoe Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) (19th place, 5:48.27) participated in the 400 IM preliminary while Samantha Epworth (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista) (26th place, 1:12.90) raced in the 100 fly preliminaries.
Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) (19th place, 2:06.66), Catey Yost (26th place, 2:12.44), Maddie Chism (Erie, Colo./Centaurus) (29th place, 2:17.45) each swam in the 200 free preliminaries while Makeyla Hayes (Boston, Mass./Boston Trinity) (19th place, 1:29.27), Sara Healy (20th place, 1:39.91) participated in the 100 breast morning session.
Damm (18th place, 1:07.73), Cunningham (21st place, 1:09.10), Mikaela Bichler (Fair Lawn, N.J./Homeschooled) (26th place, 1:23.35) and Megan Wells (27th place, 1:31.50) raced in the 100 back preliminaries.
On the men's side in the morning, Liam McDonald (Los Altos,. Calif./St. Francis) (100 fly, 18th place, 1:23.21) Ackerman (200 free, 18th place, 1:58.59), Montisano (100 breast , 18th place, 1:04.94), Sean Swanson (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) (100 breast, 28th place, 1:24.60), Connor Lawrence (North Potomac, Md./Wootton) (100 back, 19th place, 1:11.70).
On the women's side, Susquehanna leads with 538 points, 68 points ahead of Scranton (470) while Catholic (462), Drew (356), Marywood (216), Elizabethtown (147), Juniata (123) and Goucher (118) round out the competition. Catholic leads the men's side with 590 points while Susquehanna (424), Scranton (420.5), Drew (303), Elizabethtown (197), Marywood (138), Goucher (121.5) and Juniata (111) are chasing the Cardinals.
Sunday concludes the competition with events 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and the 400-free relay. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. and the finals start at 6 p.m.
