6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play today on the way to a convincing
8-1 triumph over Hood.
Andrew Ortiz (Silver Spring, MD/Gonzaga),
Wynn Thane (Chambersburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy),
Michael Brooks (Old Westbury, NY/Solomon
Schechter), Mike Simon (Palo Alto, CA/Palo
Alto) and Davin Safer (Philadelphia, PA/J.R.
Masterman School) were the winners in singles play for
Goucher (3-6). The Blazers (5-9) secured their only win of the
match at No. 5 singles where Robert Khitrik turned back
Doug Mangi (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) 6-3, 6-2.
The Gophers dropped only one game in sweeping the three doubles
matches for only the third time all season. At No. 1, Ortiz and
Thane downed Garrett Loomer and Nick Gunther, 8-0, upping their
record in 2006-07 to 7-4.
