Blue Jays Pin 6-3 Setback on Gophers

TOWSON, MD — Goucher trailed Elizabethtown, 2-1, at
the conclusion of doubles play today, but then came up with only
half of the four wins in singles play it would need to overtake the
Blue Jays. Instead of a come-from-behind victory, the Gophers
sustained a 6-3 setback.
Wynn Thane (Chambersburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy)
and Andrew Ortiz (Silver Spring, MD/Gonzaga)
provided the Gophers (1-3) with their only point in doubles play by
defeating Maarter Albers and Andrew Voshell at No. 1, 8-2.
Ortiz also was a winner in singles play as he downed Albers at No.
1, 6-2, 6-3. Chris Covey (Exeter, NH/Exeter)
accounted for Goucher's other victory in singles play as he knocked
off Voshell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4.
