SALISBURY, MD — Both Goucher players competing in the main singles draw at the Wilson/ITA Men's Atlantic South Regional drew seeded players as opening-round opponents.

Chris Covey (Exeter, NH/Exeter) was pitted against third-seeded Jon Reiss from Swarthmore, who advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Michael Brooks (Old Westbury, CT/Solomon Schechter) went up against eighth-seeded Andrew Clearfield from Carnegie Mellon and suffered a 6-0, 6-1 setback.

Covey and Brooks were both knocked out of the tournament with losses in the first round of consolations: Covey was beaten by Evan Goff from Mary Washington, 8-1, and Brooks by Alex Buxbaum from Haverford, 8-0.

Goucher's lone entry in the main doubles draw was the team of Sam Barton (Annapolis, MD/Key School) and Covey. The pair suffered an 8-0 loss to Jordan Koslosky and Ravi Raghavan from Carnegie Mellon in the first round and an 8-3 loss to Todd Green and Michael Switala from Washington (Md.) in the opening round of consolations.

Mike Simon (Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto) and Barton both went 0-2 in the B singles draw. In his first match, Simon was beaten by Derek Wise from Washington (Md.) 6-4, 6-1; in his first match, Barton took a 6-1, 6-3 hit from Keith Feinman from Moravian. Simon fell to Patrick Childs from Guilford 8-5 and Barton lost to Ryo Kawai from Guilford 8-4 in the opening round of consolations.
