Weiss Accounts for Only Point in 8-1 Setback to Bullets

Senior Prevails 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 4 Singles for Goucher

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Senior Billie Weiss (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) earned Goucher's only point today as the Gophers bowed to Gettysburg, 8-1, in a non-conference match.

Weiss, competing at No. 4 singles, took the first set from Gettysburg's Will Brinks, dropped the second set and then prevailed in a super tiebreaker as he was victorious 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8).

The Bullets (4-1) won the remaining five singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1, Chris Curran defeated Steve Baum (Fallston, Md./Fallston) 6-1, 6-3; at No. 2, Mike McLaughlin came out on top of David Spivey (Brooklandville, Md./Park School of Baltimore) 6-1, 6-1.

The Gophers (0-4) were unable to win a single game in the three doubles matches.
