Snyder Prevails at No. 5 for First Career Singles Victory
FREDERICK, Md — Goucher dropped only nine games in five contested singles matches this afternoon on the way to a decisive 9-0 triumph over Hood.
With the Blazers (0-7) presently carrying only five players on their roster, there were only two contested doubles matches and in both of them, the Gophers came out on top, 8-0.
Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard), who teamed with John Bescoby (San Marino, Calif./Maranatha) for the 8-0 win over Chad Love and Luis Cotto at No. 1 doubles, met up with Love again at No. 1 singles and prevailed 6-1, 6-1, raising his record in singles play this season to 6-3. David Spivey (Cockeysville, Md./The Park School)defeated Philip Roedig 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Bescoby was victorious at No. 3 singles for Goucher as he knocked off Cotto 6-0, 6-1. At No. 4, Seth Manfield (Bethesda, Md./Emerson Prep) topped Raymond Rivera 6-2, 6-2; at No. 5, Benjamin Snyder (Forest Hills, N.Y./Townsend Harris) turned back Jamone Davis 6-1, 6-1, giving the senior the first singles win of his collegiate career.
Spivey and Pat Murnin (Salt Lake City, Utah/East) were the winners for the Gophers (2-7) over Davis and Rivera at No. 2 doubles.
