Landmark AOW Remains in Goucher's Possession

TOWSON, Md. — For the second week in a row, the Landmark Conference has named a first-year player from Goucher as its Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

Jack Hodges (London, England/Shrewsbury School) was selected as the recipient of the weekly honor for March 2-8, according to an official announcement by the conference this afternoon. He registered a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wyatt Paulishak from St. Mary's (Md.) at No. 3 singles in the only match the Gophers played during the week, a 7-2 triumph over the Seahawks.

Hodges, a first-semester freshman, is off to a 2-0 start in singles play in 2014-15.

During the doubles competition, Hodges was partnered with Britt Shortle (Lake Mary, Fla./Trinity Preparatory School) at No. 2 and their 9-7 triumph over Connor McKissick and Paulishak provided head coach Brendan Kincaid's squad with a 2-0 lead in the overall match against St. Mary's.

Joey Caracappa (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Preparatory School) was the Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week in the Landmark Conference for the seven-day period ending March 1.

The weekly award also went to Goucher players twice during the fall portion of the 2014-15 season: Caracappa for Sept. 15-21 and Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
