TOWSON, Md. — Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) went a perfect 6-0 this weekend, helping Goucher post convincing victories in each of its first three conference matches, and as a result the junior was recognized as the Landmark Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second time during the 2014-15 season.
Hoesman previously earned the accolade on Oct. 6, and he has now received four weekly awards from the Landmark during his Gopher career. This past week, the co-captain cruised to straight set singles victories over Drew, Merchant Marine and Susquehanna to improve his dual record to 10-2 this season.
Teaming with Joey Caracappa (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Preparatory School), Hoesman was just as successful on the doubles court, as the duo won all three matches to maintain a perfect 11-0 mark in dual matches.
Goucher has won four straight matches overall, and the program is on pace for its best season since the 2003-04 squad finished 15-4. This year's improvement has been recognized by the league office, with the Gophers receiving five Athlete of the Week awards in 2014-15.
Hoesman and his teammates will be in action at 1 p.m. next Saturday for a home matchup against Moravian. Both teams are currently 3-0 in Landmark matches.
