TOWSON, Md. — For going 4-0 in singles play during Goucher's Spring Break training trip, senior Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) was selected Player of the Week in the Landmark Conference for March 14-20.
On consecutive days, Hoesman defeated Emmett Johnson from Bridgewater (Va.) 6-4, 6-1, Tristan Nosek from Georgetown (Ky.) 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 1-0 (9), Blake Barnard from Baker 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) and Brady Radermacher from St. Thomas (Minn.) 6-2, 6-2. He was stationed at No. 3 in the singles line-up in the 9-0 triumph over the Eagles and at No. 2 in the other three matches.
With the four victories, Hoesman extended his winning streak in singles competition to six matches and is 9-1 overall in singles play in 2015-16. He earned the Gophers' only point in the match against the Tigers with his three-set win over Nosek.
In Goucher's sweep of the three doubles matches from Bridgewater, Hoesman, partnered with Joey Caracappa (Smithtown, N.Y./Saddlebrook Preparatory School) at No. 1, recorded an 8-5 win over Hyle Hartsfield and Johnson.
