Slade Dumas Named Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

BALTIMORE, Md. – Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va./Dominion), a member of the Goucher College men's tennis team, has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 18-24. It is the second time Dumas has earned the conference weekly honor.

Dumas went a perfect combined 10-0 in the week between singles and doubles. The junior was 3-0 in the No. 5 singles spot against three teams that participated in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament and won a match in the national stage last year. In those matches, the Gophers won by getting to five individual victories first and he posted two of those wins in each match including the clinching match against Hope College on Tuesday. Dumas moved up to the No. 4 singles position in his last two matches of the week and the winning continued with a 2-0 mark in that spot. He only lost 16 games in the five singles matches in the week and won all five matches in straight sets, including one love set and five sets only giving up on game.

Dumas and his doubles partner Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) won all five doubles matches in the week as well to be the only duo for Goucher to go 5-0 in the matches. After starting the year 2-3, the team has won six-straight matches to go into Landmark Conference play next weekend, 8-3.

Dumas is 7-4 in singles on the year and holds a career singles record of 46-16. The junior is 7-2 on the year in doubles and holds a 29-13 career mark in tandem play.

It is the second time this season a Goucher player has been named Player of the Week for men's tennis after Tetsuya Ota (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep) took home the award for the week of March 4-10. Dumas claims his second career Player of the Week honor after receiving the recognition for the week of March 5-11, 2018.

Goucher returns to action with the start of Landmark Conference action on Saturday at home against Drew University. Match time is 1 p.m.
