Goucher Men's And Women's Tennis Senior Day Ceremony
Before Goucher College men's tennis match against the Catholic University of America, we honored the men's and women's tennis senior classes.
The Gopher men's tennis team has one senior on the team this season, and he will go down as one of the best in program history. Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va./Dominion) returned for his fifth season in 2021. Dumas was named to the 2019 All-Landmark Conference second team for singles and doubles, and the Landmark Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Dumas has a career record of 64-21 in singles play, and with his 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win on Wednesday against the Cardinals tied Midiori Futijani's (64, 2013-17) program record for career singles wins. Dumas will tangle with Catholic again on Saturday with the chance to become Goucher's career leader in singles wins, and also tie the Landmark Conference record. Saturday's match is the final match of the regular season, but the team will participate in the conference postseason looking to win its fifth-straight league tournament title.
The Blue and Gold women's tennis team honored two players during the ceremony.
Morgan "Momo" Hartman (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock Union) registered a 15-9 singles record and 17 doubles wins in her career. She helped the Gophers to the 2019 Landmark Conference postseason, thanks to a 7-3 record in singles, and a 9-5 mark in doubles. This season, she earned a win in singles, and she has served as captain for the team this year and done an exemplary job while in that role.
Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) is part of Goucher College's 3+1 program and will be headed to Columbia University next year to complete her physics and engineering degrees. DeJaeger, a two-sport athlete, played on the tennis team in her freshman year and registered four singles wins, and five doubles wins. She was also a part of the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament team. Due to the pandemic, DeJaeger only played one season with the women's tennis team after also deciding not to return to campus in the spring of 2021.
Goucher College thanks Slade, Momo, and Tes for their hard work and dedication to Goucher College and their respective tennis programs during their time at Goucher.
