Gophers Fall to Marlins at Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - Two players picked up their first collegiate dual match wins for the Goucher College men's tennis team but the Gophers fell to Virginia Wesleyan 7-2 in a match played at Salisbury University on Saturday.

• Sophomore Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) and first year Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) registered an 8-6 triumph for Goucher (0-2) at No. 3 doubles.
• Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) dropped an 8-6 decision at first doubles.

• First year Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) picked up his first collegiate win at No. 5 with a 6-4, 6-0 victory.
• Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) fought before falling 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
• Adebamgbe fell 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2.

• Goucher is slated to play its home opener next Saturday, March 5, hosting St. Mary's (Md.) at the Schroedl Tennis Center at 1 pm.
